We at Senior Star have spent 45 years creating and striving for a company culture of caring and making a difference. We care deeply about Senior Star residents and the individuals who love those residents. We care deeply about our industry and exceptional team of associates, whose work is not only essential but is also vital to the health of our nation.

Through the global COVID-19 pandemic, we remain connected to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health authorities, and focused on the safety and wellbeing of everyone we serve and employ.

When the COVID pandemic hit, we all began to rally around the words “Safer at Senior Star.” These words speak to our commitment to the safety protocols we have in place and to our Difference Makers pledge that extends to living safely at work and home.

At Senior Star, we all believe in our responsibility to practice safe COVID protocols. Together we keep each other safer, within our communities, as part of our promise to 'Do for Each Other with Love.' We recognize how hard this has been on our residents, families, and associates throughout these unprecedented times. Still, we have continued to adapt our guidelines to ensure the highest level of safety within our communities. Our team members have been thoroughly trained to keep safe and clean at work and at home. Shadowee Betts, RN, BSN, and Regional Vice President of Clinical Services shares how we continue to train our team members in advanced cleanliness and safety protocols to keep our residents safe and living vibrantly at Senior Star.

Part of being #SaferAtSeniorStar means that we continue to focus on the overall wellbeing of our residents and associates. We know how important it is for all people, especially for residents, to be safely engaged and connected.

The heart of our Senior Star family is our dedicated associates who are … A World of Difference Makers. They bring respect, love and caring on a personal level to our residents every day. Our commitment to them is unwavering.

Our associates volunteer to sign our Difference Maker’s pledge to live safely at home and work.

Before welcoming a new resident or associate, we require a negative COVID test result and follow up testing as needed.

We conduct prevalence testing of residents and team members after there is a confirmed positive COVID-19 test result following our contact tracing protocols and we are meeting all CDC requirements and state and local guidelines for senior living communities in regard to testing protocols.

We will remain flexible and will continue to pivot and adapt our approach based on the evolution of the pandemic, local area positivity rates, and guidance from health authorities.

The fact that Coronavirus does not begin within our building—that it walks through the front door—makes it clear: When it comes to safety, we are all in this together. It is with this emphasis on safety that we share this video, filmed by our Co-Founders in May of 2020. Then and now, we are all in this together.
